so i got a toy camera helicopter, and took it for a test flight in the park:

Crank start jam info...
So here we go with the info for the Crank start jam:
when: Sunday 17 October start at 13:00, first contest at 14:00 end at 18:00
who: everyone who rides a bmx bike
why: because it's fun
what: 5 small contests, during a fun jam, and live music at 16:00
first reason why we do it is to promote the crank sport club,
and even more the insurance that comes with it.
for 22,5€ /year, you can ride save 24/24 all over the world.
but what is more is that the bigger the group is, the easier it becomes
for us to advocate for more and better skateparks, and organize bmx contests
and bmx summer camps.
what contests are we doing:
180: you come out of the big quarter coming from the vert part, and land on the deck backwards. in the air you do what ever you want. (ex. a 540 is basically also a 180 with a 360 in it)
Uitdroppen voor -16j: if you are 15 our less, you can enter this, all you have to do is start in the bowl, and drop out somewhere. easy.
flatland: you drop out on the big platform, do a flatland trick/link, and drop in again. this will be fun because flatlanders can't drop in, and skatepark riders can't flatland
Footdown: everyone starts at the flat bottom of the bowl and starts riding. if you put your foot down, you get out as soon as possible. last rider still riding wins. aside from going over the coping and motor run chainsaws, everything is allowed.
Freestyle: do 1 trick on the vert, in the cradle, over the spine, over a hip, on a quarter and on the box. best overall rider wins.
some last info:
be on time, it's going to get dark soon, and we start the contests on schedule.
if you win are you then really Belgian champion?:
yes. but don't take it very serious.
can you win prices?
no, but you can win a cup and medals and life long bragging rights!
thanks to the city of kortrijk, team jeugd, red bull, ride on and grounded for their support.

City battle 6 report
City battle 6 is back in the history books,
and it was for sure the one with the most riders who attended, because around 3 pm you could count close to 100 bmx bikes and riders, standing in and around the park. it was insane so thanks to everyone who came.
on with the contest then, the idea was to start at 14h, with riders already being there since 9, so we started at 15:30 with amateur, 1:30 to late, or as we call it in freestyle bmx, right on time.
after kenneth tancre (15) did a few backflips during practice the
number of amateur riders competing dropped a lot, but we still had 20 riders competing for all the nice prices from Ride on and Grounded bmx.
Lots of great trick and everyone trying new things, Stephanie was the only girl and droped for the first time from the big 6ft quarter, so respect! Charles at age 10 being a mini mike atkin did a no hander on the box, and added a barspin riding in the landing. everyone had a 1 minute run, but with no one having a watch, it was just ride as long as you want. kenneth ended his run with awesome 1 handed backflips and
no footers to no foot cancan, and won amateur, and its thus no banded from riding amateur contests in belgium (by his father!), but no problem, cause he will for sure
kick ass in the pro class.
1 Kenneth Tancre
2 Cedric Sels
3 Matthias Lessertissaeux
4 JB Colin
5 Lander Verbeke
6 Fleurquin Amaury
7 Charles Brouckaert
8 Felix Gilbert
9 Maxime Soeten
10 Arthur Saulier
11 Stephan Bezuck
12 Antoine Pollet
13 Max D'haene
14 Tuur Legley
15 Tillo Legley
16 Julien Callens
17 Bjarne Vandenheede
18 Nolan Piens
19 Mathieu Locquet
20 Stephanie Reynaert
In pro class not everyone wanted to ride anymore after Kevin Janssens took a bad fall, and had to be taken away with an ambulance, and someone even came ask why the winner didn't enter, after birre decided to take his bike out after the contest and air 2 meter out of everything. so we went direct to the semi finals with the first battle being between Louis Hilton Jones and Anthony Reynaert competing against Gwen Geyskens and Bram De Laat. In Pro we don't use a jury or time, so after everyone had a few runs, we let the public choose who goes on, this works great since riders go for there biggest stuff from the start. for the first semi team Louis/Anthony took it with Louis landing a double whip over the box, and Anthony landing his first ever flair, and directly doing then 3 back to back!
Second semi was between Pieter Possenier and James riding against the street tech team Jelle/Kenzo. This battle was a lot closer but at the end Pieter/James took it with James doing a transfer out the park, and pieter on his 2nd try pulling a 540 tailwhip transfer to the pedals.
The final battle of the day was more of the Louis/Anthony stunt show so they can claim being the best team for a year!
As a final i would like to thank Slampe a lot for stepping in and MC'ing the whole event, you did an awesome job! Also major thank to our sponsors Red Bull, Crank, Grounded BMX, Ride On and the city of Kortrijk because without their support we can't do a contest where you don't have to pay to enter and where everyone walks a way with a few prices.
Thanks to everyone for coming, and see you next year on city battle 7

saterday 21 august = City battle in kooigem
it's going to be fun like every year, and free to watch and see for everyone.
as every year, anyone who enters amateur will win something.
more info as soon as i get mike here to do some trick for the flyer.
also, i'm trying to do a jam at the skatebowl early oktober to end the summer, and start the new crank season, and since we are still the only official freestyle bmx club in belgium, we can organize official belgian contests,
so if you want to be the first "belgisch kampioen voetje van de grond" you better be there...

hurray for me!!!
fuck yeah!!! i made it.
on 11 may 1985 my dad took me to makro (huge super marked), to get me a bike.
i choose a 20" BMX bike and it changed my life.
we are now 25 years later and i still ride a 20" bmx bike
the reason i still know the date is that my dad doesn't trow out anything, and 5 years ago he gave me the bill from the store (it was 2999 bfr or about 75$)
i still have it, but it's so faded i'm afraid to frame it, so i keep it out of the light all the time.
anyway, bmx has thus far allowed me to see the world, make lot's of friend all over it, start our own Little bmx company with friends and later transform it to an official sportclub that allows every rider to get insurance for cheap (22€/year!)
it also allowed me to learn build ramps and later do this on a professional scale, and spend 2.500.000 € of Belgian tax money on public skate parks all over this country, and even build me my own small skate park.
to keep it short, bmx made me in what i am today, and I'm very happy how i turned out. it also put me on a first name base with most doctors at the local ER, but hey, matt hoffman said it best: pain is temporary, bones heal but womans dig scars and glory is forever!

i finaly finnished the first bowl and can ride it from now on.
the good news is i now can also finnish the rest of the park, and hope to be able to do this in a small month time.
and thanks mr ross for the first trick

crank demo's
since the start of crank, now over 10 years ago, people have asked us to do demo's,
and we have done things from small demo's for a junior school, to big summer event demo's all over the country for siemens mobile.
we've also been involved in TV stuff from regional TV stations, to music video's that aired every hour on MTV europe.
this all has been possible thanks to a great team.
and with hannu having 2 world titels (in both expert and master street) we had big names and great riders as well.
well, i'm very happy to say that we are adding some great team riders,
they both did allreaddy some demo's with us, but now they are official crank riders.
what ever that may mean!
first up is belgians best flatland rider: gilles van de sompel
check him on www.gillesvandesompel.com
second rider is non other that jimmy van belle
he has been a great friend and insane rider and can proof it
only 19 year old, but allreaddy 2 world titles (expert mini in '05 and master vert in '09)
jimmy is also the only rider i now who uses frontflips and 720's to exit a skatepark.
more news on this later. and some more fun news later as well...
